I found an interesting article on how to use Windows apps on Linux without going through some of the headaches of using WINE.  VirtualBox looks a lot like VMWare but with something called “Seamless Mode” and VirtualBox is free.  I wish I had known about this prior to forking over money for VMWare so long ago.  I doubt you can use this VirtualBox to play games but everything else would work just fine and with less time spent configuring WINE.  I’d still prefer to use WINE if I could but that’s not always possible for most people.
